1,200 miles, 5 states, 3 days, 1 goal
Two weeks ago I headed west with Willie for a lovely wedding in Healdsburg, CA. I flew into San Francisco, late, because of fog and fires. It's so sad! From San Francisco we eventually reached our goal: Boulder, CO. We made it there with us and the car in one piece. Phew.

California: Headed out of Grass Valley, that's all smoke ahead. Not a good day for running. Unless you're running away from here to cleaner air. So sad.
Nevada: About the most interesting things I saw were trains and signs for things like "The Pussycat Club: Truckers Welcome." Oh, and my favorite were the signs for exits and underneath there would be a notice "No Services Available." Then what's at this exit?!?!?
Utah: Right before the border of Nevada and Utah on I-80 there are these cool red rock formations and as soon as you past that it's just flat and salty (except some hills in the way off distance). It looks VERY cool and reminded me of one of the scenes in the movie The Fall (very cool, colorful film). I couldn't get a good shot of things on the north side of the road, but it looked like a mirage, like a big lake full of ice that faded away on the horizon.
Wyoming: I was very happy to leave the part of Utah we were in and the scenery changed pretty quickly. I loved the rolling hills and the wind turbines. I think they look very cool dotted along the landscape. At one point we past 100 at a time! It's a windy state. Thank goodness it wasn't January.
Colorado: Back in Colorful Colorado just as a crazy storm was rolling through. At one point coming down 287 the sky looked almost black ahead of us which provided a brilliant backdrop for the sun shining from behind us on the red rocks and green grass, the colors were really quite brilliant.
